Let’s get excited about writing!
Welcome.
“We have been conditioned to believe that good stories are large and dramatic. On the contrary, everyone’s story is interesting; it is in the daily minutiae that our personalities shine through.
My goal is to help people figure out how to best tell their stories.”
My name is Gabriela Garay-Marvin. I have been involved with language and writing for most of my life. Words, their meaning, and their usage, have been central to every aspect of my career as an educator, writer, and storyteller. I have worked as a journalist, and a television and video producer, I have enjoyed story consulting and script doctoring, and I have written fiction, plays and non-fiction,
I speak five languages (English, French, Hebrew, Spanish, Flemish / Dutch) and can get by in a sixth (German). My B.A. in literature is from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and my MFA in creative writing is from Antioch University.
I have always known that I wanted to work with words, write, and help others express themselves. I believe language is a gift, and the words we choose are of paramount importance. Over the years, I have taught children, adolescents, and adults, in groups and one-on-one, in classrooms, outdoors, and online.
